Blogs and Rss Feeds ~ Blog Tools and Information
What is an RSS Feed?
RSS is an abriviation for ‘Real Simple Syndication.’ Still non the wiser? Well an RSS feed is a format for a person to have information sent to them about a certain topic that they are interested in and have signed up for. So basically if you are interested in ‘Napa Valley’ and want to have information sent to you about certain events in the ‘Napa Valley’, such as ‘Lodging’ then you can sign up for a feed about that subject. A recent request at Google gave the option of 10 feeds on the subject.
Where do RSS Feeds come from?
Many of the news sites, travel review sites, and personal blogs have the ability to send you a feed when the information is updated. So you could sign up for a feed from Google about Napa Valley and Lodging. Likewise if there is a particular blog that interests you. Rather than visit it each day to read the posts you can sign up for a feed so that the posts are sent to you to read in an RSS feedreader.
OK so What is a FeedReader?
Feed readers take the information sent via the RSS feed and format it so it can easily be read in your browser. Feedreaders are not standard with your browser so you need to sign up for a feedreader. A feedreader is required because if you look at a feed link it is very hard to read -
